The service

Ekko is published by Bomunto. It gives the developer a widget to place on their site or an SDK to build into their mobile application, a dashboard to read the submissions received, integrations with third-party tools such as Jira, and campaigns to recruit testers signed up on ekko.

The service is provided as is. We do what it takes to keep it available and reliable, without guaranteeing uninterrupted availability.

Your account

• You are responsible for what is done from your account.
• An account is personal. Invite your teammates rather than share yours.
• A tester deletes their account from their space, at any time. A developer writes to us to delete theirs.

Testers

A tester opens an account for themselves. They are neither an employee, a contractor nor a subcontractor of Bomunto or of the developer whose application they test. Joining a campaign creates no employment contract, and a mission is neither a schedule nor an obligation to produce a result.

A tester never pays anything. They declare an honest profile: claiming a device you do not own takes the seat of someone who does. They do not test an application from their own workspace, and they send only what they actually observed.

Points, credits and ranks. They measure activity on ekko and nothing else. They carry no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or converted into money. Bomunto may change how they are earned, and may reward testers through operations it announces itself; such an operation creates no entitlement for the future.

The certificate. It is the record of what ekko has registered, as at the date it is issued. It is not a diploma, a professional certification, or an undertaking as to the level of skill of its holder. Its verification address is public: sharing it is the tester's decision.

What a tester sees of an application under test. A campaign often gives access to an unreleased version. The tester agrees not to redistribute it, not to publish its content, and not to disclose what they find in it before its public release.

What a developer sees of a tester. The profile they declared, and the email address they give when joining the campaign. These serve to run the test and nothing else: no marketing, no list-building, no passing on to a third party.

Subscriptions and payments

The Solo plan is free. Pro is a monthly subscription, paid by card through Stripe, cancellable at any time from the settings: cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, with no pro-rata refund. Trial periods are announced when you subscribe and commit you to nothing.

A campaign is paid for one at a time, or opened with credits. If a campaign you paid for never finds enough testers and ends without having started, the payment or the credits are given back to you.

Your content

The bug submissions, screen captures, session videos and text sent through Ekko remain yours. You grant us only the right to store them, display them and pass them on to the tools you have connected, for as long as it takes to provide the service.

You are responsible for the pages on which you place the widget and for what they contain. You agree to tell your testers that their submissions may include a screen capture, a session video and a voice comment, and not to deploy the widget on pages carrying data you have no right to collect.

Prohibited uses

• Using Ekko to monitor people without their knowledge.
• Attempting to access the data of another account or project.
• Disrupting the service, its servers, or those of the connected integrations.
• Reselling or redistributing the service without our agreement.
• Opening several tester accounts, or holding seats on your own campaigns, to earn points.
• Sending submissions that are invented, copied, or produced in bulk to run up a number.
• Using tester profiles for anything other than running a test.

We may suspend an account that breaches these rules, after warning you when that is possible, and withdraw points obtained by any means this list forbids.

Third-party integrations

When you connect a third-party tool, you authorise Ekko to act on that tool on your behalf, within the limits stated on that tool's consent page. That third party's own terms apply to what it does with your data. You can revoke access at any time from Ekko's settings or from the tool itself.

Personal data

How Ekko handles personal data is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

Liability

Within the limits of the law, Bomunto is not liable for indirect losses linked to the use or unavailability of the service, nor for the content of the submissions your testers send. Ekko puts developers and testers in touch; it is party to no agreement between them and guarantees neither the diligence of a tester nor the quality of an application put under test.

Changes and governing law

We may change these terms. In the event of a significant change, the date at the top of this page is updated and active accounts are notified by email. Continuing to use Ekko after that date constitutes acceptance.

These terms are governed by the law of Cameroon, where Bomunto is established. Nothing here removes from a user residing in the European Union the rights their national law guarantees them. For any question: hello@ekko.bomunto.com.
